WORKSHOP SUMMARY

Speed and Power Development in Athletes

Certified Speed & Agility Specialist, Kyle Andersen and AMP founder TJ Lopez will speak about athletic development and teaching the skill of speed. This talk will review the Movement Training System developed by the experts at AMP, and covers everything from ACL Prevention Strategies to Power development for athletes of all ages.

Eyes Lead the Body: Visual Mechanics, Pitch Recognition, and Tracking Strategies

The distance between an athlete’s Visual Abilities and his Visual Needs gives us the Visual Gap. We close this gap with proper visual acuity training that is specific to the athlete and her personal performance process. A proper visual system for elite athletes is based on anticipation -not only reaction. At the most elite levels of competition, reaction isn't even possible -to be effective, anticipation must be understood and eventually mastered. The body movements and positions that support great vision are unique to an athlete’s visual and cognitive ability. Training should be customized to the athlete’s unique eye-dominance and visual speed. In addition, great vision naturally affects balance as the body relies on the eyes in order to maintain balance and control.

Injury Prevention in the Overhead Athlete: Optimizing the Shoulder and Elbow

Certified Athletic Trainer and Recovery Lab Director Mike Stella will review and discuss common myths regarding shoulder and elbow injuries in overhead and throwing athletes. Injury prevention and recognition tactics will be reviewed with parents and coaches in mind. This talk will help you understand prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies, and the safe and effective progression for players of all ages. This talk is great for Baseball, Softball, Football, Volleyball, and/or Tennis Athletes.
